How do we know this? The US collects vital statistics that are published on the CDC’s website.
For example, before the invention of birth control, access to abortion and advanced reproductive technologies, we can see in the 1931 data that women were getting pregnant til about 50 years old. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/vsus/vsus_1890_1938.htm
Granted, it’s not common but it’s not impossible.
